Colombian singer Yeison Jiménez has died after his plane crashed on the way to his show in Medellin.
Jiménez, one of the most well-known artists of música popular, was among six on board a small plane that crashed shortly after takeoff.
The pilot, co-pilot, and four passengers, including Jiménez, were all confirmed dead.
“With heavy hearts and a pain impossible to describe, the organization and team of Yeison Jiménez deeply regret to announce his passing,” his team announced on Instagram on Saturday, January 10. “Today we are not only saying goodbye to an artist; we are saying goodbye to a son, a brother, a friend, a human being full of dreams and courage, who transformed his story into hope for thousands of people.”
The crash occurred shortly after 4 p.m. local time, according to Colombia’s Civil Aviation Authority.
“Following the arrival of emergency services and the National Police at the crash site, the deaths of all six occupants of the aircraft have been confirmed,” the Authority announced. “Among the victims is the renowned popular music artist Yeison Jimenez.”
The 34-year-old shared his final Instagram post just hours before his death.
“Always humble, because what God gives you he can also take away,” he wrote alongside a clip of himself on stage.
