Degenerate is a metal band from Amsterdam, Netherlands, formed in 2016 by frontman Rens Hilgers. Their sound blends the aggression of thrash metal with the precision and atmosphere of melodic death metal. They are currently unsigned/independent.

Degenerate's music features razor-sharp riffs, technical drumming, and dark, melodic solos. They draw inspiration from prominent bands like Sepultura, Children of Bodom, and Death, while maintaining a unique sound.

Their debut album, "Devastation Ahead", was released in 2019 and received positive reviews.

After a hiatus during the COVID-19 pandemic, the band emerged with a heavier and more refined sound.

Their latest album, "Rituals of Rage", released in 2025, showcases their evolution with a blend of melodic thrash and modern death metal. It explores themes of personal and global disruption and has been described as a statement of identity.

Degenerate has built a reputation for their energetic live shows, sharing stages with bands like Distillator, Acid Drinkers, and Disavowed.
