Dorie Pride is an accomplished singer, songwriter, musician and author. She is a multi-faceted gifted composer and guitarist who hails from Detroit, Michigan, the soul of America. Her early music credits include co-writing The Magic is Working on Janet Jackson’s first album.  Dorie Pride spreads seeds of light through her music.

She draws upon her Native American and African roots, compelling her to use her voice, to bring attention to Mother Earth.  Fittingly, Dorie describes herself as a purple sheep. Her discography boasts three acclaimed albums that intersperse songs of the universe peppered by pop, blended by jazz, mixed with hints of rock, reggae, R&B and neo-soul.

Dorie: “I walk to my own beat. I am a forward thinker. I think outside of the box. I am amazingly comfortable in my skin and live by the cardinal rule of the heart – LOVE!”

Dorie’s team is rounded out by her husband, producer, co-composer and multi-instrumentalist Kamau Seitu. They are a match made in musical Heaven. Dorie and Kamau have written for Diana Ross, Johnny Mathis, The Spinners, Michael Henderson and Cheryl Lynn. Compositions for Dorie’s albums include Life Is Just A Color TV, Born To Make Music, Love Will Find A Way and the latest album Words.

Dorie’s singles have charted a combined 50+ weeks on the charts at 969 The Oasis Indie Radio station. Dorie has been voted Indie Music Channel’s Top New Artist, Lee Bailey’s EUR web Featured Artist of The Month and 969 The Oasis Artist of the Month.

Dorie’s influences are John Lennon, The Beatles, Prince, Sade, Annie Lennox, Joni Mitchell and even Ray Charles.  Improving human conditions, global concerns, injustice and compassion drive the themes of Dorie Pride’s music.  These influences are evident in songs like Revolution, Cry, Simple Things and Pennies In A Jar.  All of Dorie’s music is brilliantly produced and arranged by Kamau Seitu.  Dorie’s sophomore CD – Love Will Find A Way pre-qualified for Grammy nomination in nine categories.  She Never Asks and A Little Rain Must Fall pre-qualified for Song of the Year.

Dorie: ‘She Never Asks’ puts a face on homelessness in a stark, moving story of two very contrasting women. “Rain Must Fall’ chronicles the journey of life’s pain that can rock us to our core, yet we must find grace and strength to carry on.

Dorie creatively mingles love, sensuality, hope, and inspiration into a stimulating tapestry of poetry and music.  Filmmaking has been added to Dorie’s arsenal of talent unleashing an additional element of storytelling to her songs.  Her message is steering a global impact.
